You know what? I wouldn’t put it past Keith Richards to do this*

Keith Richards is thinking “Aw, my fault, I didn’t think my ‘revelation’ would get this much press!

(*=lie about smoking his father’s ashes)

Normally, when a famous person retracts a story, it’s because they were a little too liberal telling the truth with a journalist and now want to change the story so that they don’t suffer any negative fallout from the revelations.

But in this case, I can totally believe that crazy Keith would tell a journalist that cause it sounded interesting. And cause he was really high. See this:

‘”It was an off-the-cuff remark, a joke, and it is not true. File under April Fool’s joke,” said Bernard Doherty, a Rolling Stones spokesman, about Richards’ quote in NME magazine.”

Was a response to this:

”"The strangest thing I’ve tried to snort? My father. I snorted my father. He was cremated and I couldn’t resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow. My dad wouldn’t have cared … It went down pretty well, and I’m still alive.”"

Either way,  that old saying “there’s no such thing as bad press” rings true for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’, when when it debuts May 23, will feature Keith as Jack Sparrow’s (Johnny Depp) dad.

Candace Parker Cuts Down A Piece of History

So, first she wins the McDonald’s High School All-American Game’s dunk contest, becoming the 1st woman ever to win.

Then, according to a recent USA Today article, she becomes the “most decorated high school player in history”.

And now, Candace, the legendary coach Pat Summit (who before the game, told her team, “Offense sells tickets, defense wins games and rebounding wins championships”), and the Lady Vols team are the winners of the 2007 NCAA Women’s National Championship, defeating Rutgers 59-46.

Already an All American, Candace can add this new individual title to her list: Final Four MVP.

“You know, make it rain? When you can make it thunderstorm?
I’m like, ‘Why?’. The world needs sun, the ‘hood needs funds.
There’s a war going on and half the battle is guns. How dare
I throw it on the floor when people are poor?”

Go check out the Soweto Gospel Choir…

I saw them last night at the Pantages Theatre in Tacoma, Washington and they were phenomenal. Consisting of 2 acts, they sang, at various times, acapella, with 2 men playing djembes or with a 4 piece band (bass, keyboard, drums and guitar). They did American standards such as “Amazing Grace” and “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”, as well as the famous “Mbube”, or what Americans more commonly know as ”The Lion Sleeps Tonight”. Singing 16 songs in total, they were worth the $40 ticket price and more.

There is nothing like voices in exquisite harmonies, and this choir showed time and time again why they are the 2007 Grammy winner in the Best Traditional World Music Album category for ”Blessed”.

Visit their website. Their US tour continues through April 23rd.

Barack + Blue Neon Halo = ?

This sculpture (display name:”Blessing”) is an interesting one.

Done by a student of the Art Institute of Chicago named David Cordero, and made for his senior show, this has gotten alot of attention as he is being depicted as Jesus.

Took a look:

I find it to be very interesting, the public outcry is is similar to the most recent one of the chocolate jesus, also known by its display name “My Sweet Lord”:

Anyway, back to the Barack one, I find it interesting that this would cause a stir, I mean I’m not surprised though. Must be cool for the student that Barack himself has chimed in (AP article):

‘While we respect First Amendment rights and don’t think the artist was trying to be offensive, Senator Obama, as rule, isn’t a fan of art that offends religious sensibilities,” said Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki’

Anyway, thoughts?
